On August 27th, Glasser/Schoenbaum held the first #GlasserPassports lunch, with The Literacy Council of Sarasota presenting. The program is simple: one tenant partner talks to their neighbors about what they do, and connections are made. The setting is casual, with the help of Apple Spice Catering, who sponsored the event with some of their free boxed lunches.
In fact, lunch is the key to making the event possible. With the busy schedules that nonprofit staff must keep, making the most of lunch is the best way to get folks together.
In a world where we are all working online and communicating through emails, it’s helpful to find resources right next door. The conversation from August 27th has already proven to be fruitful. “As a result of our lunch this week I reached out to two organizations to learn more about their services and will be including at least one (if not both) in our ESL classes for parents,” reports Susan Bergstrom, Program Director, Literacy Council of Sarasota.
The next #GlasserPassports lunch will take place on September 12th, and Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota will be talking about what they do. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
