The Community Alliance of Sarasota County is a group comprised of organizations in Sarasota's human services community. It is a meeting of minds for the sector, making connections and setting priorities for the social services delivery system as a whole. Each year, the Community Alliance’s Legislative Advocacy Committee asks the members of the Community Alliance to submit their issues to the committee for review.
This process culminates at the annual Legislative Summit, where the issues are presented to the broader community.
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have shifted our process and format. These issues are being discussed and voted on in the various subcommittees, workgroups and in other community forums. The Community Alliance will come together as a whole for the Summit when each system will inform the group of their voted priorities and the primary contact for those issues has a chance to speak to their issue.
This is just one more way that shows this community is coming together during COVID.
The Summit is Tuesday, Nov. 17th, 9am – 10:30am. This event is free and open to everyone.

The Community Alliance of Sarasota County recognizes nine critical systems which provide health and human services for the community. They are:
Aging
Behavioral Health (includes Mental Health and Substance Abuse)
Child Welfare
Children and Youth
Criminal Justice
Developmental Disabilities
Early Learning
Health Care
Homelessness
Each system can have as many issues as submitted and that pass through the Legislative Advocacy Committee’s vetting process. This process establishes that all the required criteria has been met, such as a clearly defined ask, correct system alignment, etc.
