Small Group
Instruction
Literacy Council's small group instruction classes, led by a ProLiteracy-trained instructor, are held at The Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center campus, Sarasota County libraries, or onsite at local schools, employers, or another nonprofit agency’s location. Classes are for up to 12 adult learners and typically meet once or twice a week for 60-90 minutes.
One-On-One Tutoring
ProLiteracy-trained volunteer tutors work with
individual adult learners in one-on-one tutoring sessions with a focus on the
learner’s educational goals including GED preparation, adult basic education in
reading, writing and math, English as a second language, and citizenship. Tutors typically meet in a public place such
as a library, a minimum of once a week for 90 minutes.
