Prepares local infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children for lifelong success through access to quality early learning programs. Serving more than 4,000 children and 175 providers every year, the Coalition administers and oversees the local integrated system of early care and education across Sarasota County. This includes using state and local funds to provide financial scholarships to income-eligible families and administering the free, state-funded Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) programs for all 4 year olds. The ELC offers professional development, training and coaching to teachers as well as provides a variety of educational resources to parents. From Children Who Read Succeed to Bucket of Books, the ELC also manages large-scale, comprehensive early literacy programs both in the classroom and the community.
